SHOCKLACH REGISTER

A record of everything of interest in Shocklach was started in March, 2009. 

So far, the following have been recorded.

 

 

FLORA:  129 species.

 

FAUNA (BIRDS):  67 species.

FAUNA (MAMMALS):  11 species.

 

FAUNA (INSECTS):  116 species, of which:

20 species of butterfly and 96 species of moth

9 species of dragonfly/damselfly

18 other insects

 

 

 

SITES OF BIOLOGICAL IMPORTANCE (SBI)/

SITES OF NATURE CONSERVATION VALUE (SNCV)/

AREAS OF NATURE CONSERVATION VALUE (ANCV)/

SITES OF SPECIAL SCIENTIFIC INTEREST (SSSI)

Fourteen.

One of these is Shocklach churchyard and meadow which is a Grade B Site of Biological Importance 

and a Site of Nature Conservation Value. 

The extension to the churchyard (see below) is an ancient hay meadow, only 3% of which survive in Cheshire.
