HEDGEROW SURVEY

Residents of Shocklach and volunteers from elsewhere are working with the Farming and Wildlife Advisory Group (FWAG) and the Cheshire Landscape Trust to record samples of all the hedges in Shocklach Church and Shocklach Oviatt.

Details will include whether the hedge is shrubby, whether it contains trees, how many other hedges are connected to it, what the adjacent land is used for, the shape, height and width of the hedge and information on isolated trees within the hedgerow.

Notes will also be made of any evidence of animals and which woody species of plants are present, together with ground flora species and information on "veteran trees".

It is hoped that the results of the survey (expected some time early 2009) will be published here.
